I appreciated the emphasis on the math around affordability and the need for an emergency fund. The discussion also wisely touches on lifestyle opportunity costs that come with homeownership. Another often overlooked issue (which is an astute comment in the interview) is around career mobility. Lower priced, smaller or more rural locations may come with a significant opportunity cost in terms of career or job opportunities and the pay that may be available in smaller centres compared to larger cities.
